We are pleased to announce that Down Syndrome International (DSI) has awarded United Arab Emirates the winning rights to host the World Down Syndrome Congress (WDSC) 2020 in the Inspiring Emirate Dubai.
Recently, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai has launched
a national policy for empowering “people of determination”. Dubai was working to become a disability-friendly city by 2020.
The choice from DSI was due to recognition of the role played by Emirates Down Syndrome Association (EDSA) and a culmination of its efforts in contributing to the improvement of the quality of lives for people with Down syndrome in the UAE.
WDSC 2020 the largest global congress for People with Down syndrome, brings together all involved entities, researchers, service providers and professionals accompanied with rich experiences in educational, medical, social aspects and the latest researches and best practices as well as sharing lived experience of Down syndrome from worldwide.
Family-based event will be an opportunity for all family members to attend, and to share their inspiring success stories, special concern will focus on the challenges facing people with Down syndrome, self- advocacy, empowerment and societal inclusion.
